Bill Okell

Bill Okell's Christian bible verse on the rear valance of his MGB race car capsulizes his competitive attitude "Run With Endurance, The Race" Hebrews 12:1. Running race cars has been what Bill Okell has been doing since the mid 1970's.

Competing at a high level of sports car racing up and down the west coast of North America has taken him to places like the Rexall Edmonton Indy Car Event and the legendary venue at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California and many points in between.

He chose to compete in a race car that has been with him from the very beginning, a 1964 MGB.

Okell Motorsports, based in Victoria B.C., Canada, has been dedicated to preserving the heritage of racing a British car to competitive racing standards of today's grand touring (GT) style of road course racing. The MGB has a 175 HP, British Leyland engine (prepared by Huffaker Engineering, Sonoma, California) and driven through a Quaife-designed Ford Sierra, 5 speed sequential gearbox (prepared by Specialty Engineering, Vancouver, Canada). The end result has been numerous championships and track records to date.

But most importantly, it has been family, friends and business supporters that have kept the competitive accomplishments continuing. Bill Okell's wife Cory has been by his side over 12 years now, long time friends Leigh Urquhart and Ian Mackie over 20 years each, chassis expert Dale Taylor from the mid 1990's. Business supporters like Quaker State Motor Oil / Pennzoil have been with his company from day #1 - that's over 35 years of faithful, continuous support! The Lowe family from Victoria Plating have polished and plated every inch of the car for nearly a quarter century! The list could continue on…

The significant strength that Bill Okell is bolstered by, is a faith in a loving God that has provided him the opportunity to compete at a high level of competition and for that, he and his team of supporters are very grateful and blessed. "Run With Endurance The Race" Hebrews 12:1.
